The Official Rules of Chopped! Football
2017 Season

WELCOME ONE AND ALL!
So excited to get this season started with you.
Below I've laid out the deal as simply as one incredibly loquacious girl can.
Hoping for another great year of good, clean competition and some laughs along the way.
So now it's time for YOU to do YOUR PART and read dem rules!
Note to The Wise: I will be able to tell if you didn't read these rules in their entirety based on the questions you ask and the way you submit your picks and play throughout the season, so let's all do ourselves a favor here and read this for 5 minutes...
OFFICIAL RULES
- Each week you pick one NFL team to win its game and email it to the commissioner
- Only catch - you can't ever pick that same team again during the season
- Everyone gets one mulligan.
- Last man or woman standing takes the whole pot.
Details:
1. Each week you pick one NFL team to win its game
Straight-up, no point spread.
You can always see who's playing right here: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/schedule or whatever sports prediction website that worked for you 7 years ago that you now swear by, your choice.
Put the pick IN THE BODY OF THE EMAIL
The Subject Line can be whatver you want.
If you...
...send your pick to any other email you have for me, like my work email (facepalm)...
...tell me in person who you picked...
...text me your pick...
I will...
...immediately try to forget it because it gives me an unfair advantage to know ahead of time what you pick...
...not count it as an official pick...
...try to give you fair warning, but only once...
Let's all try to remember what can happen when we use the wrong email address...

I will not confirm that I received your pick until after all the games are played that week. Again, if I look, it gives me an unfair advantage. It's your responsibility to make sure you got the email address right and all that jazz. If you sent it right, I'll have it. That's how email works.

You can send your pick any time before that team kicks off its game.
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO GET YOUR PICK IN ON TIME!

2. Picking your teams wisely
You can pick any given team only ONCE this season. Period. End of story.
The teams will NOT be reloaded for the playoffs...if we make it that far.
The teams will NOT be reloaded for the playoffs...if we make it that far.
So, choose wisely.
If you inadvertently pick the same team twice, it is an automatic incorrect pick, so pay attention to your picks!
Final score ties are counted as wins for both teams. As long as your weekly pick doesn't lose, you stay on.
3. Everyone gets one “mulligan”
So, you get one last chance after your first incorrect pick. But if you pick wrong a second time, Chopped you are.4. The last one standing claims the entire pot.
Yeah, that’s right. And this year, we're invoking a new rule to avoid a tie.
New 2017 Tie-Breaker Rule:
In the event that two or more players all go down at the end of the season in the same week, we will break the tie in the following manner: The player with the highest number of combined wins for each of their remaining teams will take the whole pot.
In previous years we've had multiple players split the pot, so, you're welcome.

The Goofball Compassion Clause:

If you totally space out and forget to pick a team altogether, you will be assigned the default pick which is the home team in the last game of the week (usually the Monday night game).
You can invoke the Goofball Compassion Clause only once. If you forget to send a pick for a second week in a row, you'll be automatically assigned a Loss.
